My Thoughts On Procrastination

8 Aug

I’m devastated!

I just wasted an amazing opportunity for an internet marketing joint venture with a very good internet marketer. Reason? Procrastination. I have nobody to blame but myself. I could have gotten it done months ago but I procrastinated for some reason.

End result? Not only did I potentially lose the chance to make some cash for myself, I also lost the trust of that person. Ironically, recently i’ve been reading two books that somehow really  relate to this scenario, namely The Speed Of Trust by Stephen M.R. Covey and Awakening The Giant by Anthony Robbins. Both are great reads btw. Nevertheless, i will take this as a hard lesson for myself and come back even stronger than ever. As to whether trust can be re-established, it will have to depend on my own effort and also by proving results. The most trustable people are people who can produce results.

As for Awakening The Giant, Tony Robbin explains that people take action based on their perceptions on whether the action will produce pain or pleasure. For example, I procrastinated because I perceived the pain of working two jobs (hospital work and internet marketing) in a day as more painful than losing out on the opportunity of the joint venture. Of course I didn’t expect it back then but now that it happened I can feel the pinch.

Have you ever procrastinated something that you know you should be doing? Firstly, ask yourself why are you procrastinating. Then reflect on the consequences on procrastination and see which would cause you more anguish.
